How to use iNat BioPoster Beta

Choose the workflow that best fits your trail camera or animal dataset: CSV for stability or API Beta search for controlled online queries.

Before you start

The project is designed primarily for animal observations, especially trail camera records. It works best with mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and occasional large invertebrates.

CSV

Option 1 — Use CSV

Export a CSV from iNaturalistDownload the observations you want from the iNaturalist website.
Open iNat BioPoster BetaLaunch the tool and start a new poster.
Choose Import CSVSelect your CSV file from your computer.
Choose a speciesThe tool lists the species available in your file.
Choose the photographsAdd the main image and the supporting poster images.
Fill in the technical sheetReview automatic fields and complete biological information when needed.
Complete origin, credits or identityAdd the iNaturalist user, local identity, credits or QR Code information.
Generate the PDF posterReview the poster and export the final PDF.

Recommended for large datasets and permanent records.

API

Option 2 — Use API Beta

Choose Search via API BetaSelect the API search option inside the app.
Set your search sourceUse a user name, city or iNaturalist project URL.
Define the period and limitChoose dates and the maximum number of records for the poster.
Search available speciesReview the species returned by the iNaturalist API.
Select a speciesPick one species from the API search results.
Choose the photographsAdd the main image and the supporting poster images.
Fill in the technical sheetReview automatic fields and complete biological information when needed.
Complete origin, credits or identityAdd the iNaturalist user, local identity, credits or QR Code information.
Generate the PDF posterReview the poster and export the final PDF.
